“I always liked the clean lines and exposed detail of the ailerons on the F-80,” Joel says. For the natural-metal finish on his Monogram 1/48 scale Shooting Star, he says, “I started by spray-painting with Testors silver, then hand-rubbed with flat black acrylic straight out of the tube. Then I used a clear coat overall.”
