Thomas Gimignani, Creskill, New Jersey

“Street Fighting: 1944” is what Thomas calls this photo project. He says, “I wanted to have the feel of a photograph shot in combat. The GIs are from Tamiya's 1/35 scale U.S. Army Assault Infantry set. I spray-painted them a neutral gray, followed by Testors Dullcote to reduce any glare from the lighting. I built a small set with debris, a cardboard wall, and, for added realism, I scaled down propaganda posters and glued them to the wall. Then I photographed and brought it into Photoshop.” Thomas colorized, retouched, then converted the images to grayscale. He added smoke effects and superimposed an old photo on it, then finished with sepia tone.
