Ron Denning

Kansas City, Missouri

Following his modeling club’s theme for an upcoming contest, “In the Movies,” Ron modeled a 1/72 scale scene from 1955’s “Strategic Air Command,” starring Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson. Hasegawa’s B-47 is supported by a segment of aluminum streamline tubing and connected to Academy’s KC-97L by 1/8" piano wire. Ron says, “I cut the plastic probe in various sections, drilled it out, and inserted the piano wire. I installed solid blocks of plastic in the nose of the B-47 and the tail of the KC-97. Fortunately, when I drilled it all out for the probe, it lined up perfect.” On the Stratotanker, Ron added a reclining fueling-boom operator, PropBlur photoetched-metal blades, and ultralight guitar strings for antenna leads.
