Academy M1A1 "Maritime" Abrams - October 2013

John Groves, Chili, New York

John explains: “Occasionally taking the road less traveled road is good for the soul. I already have a properly built M1A1 Abrams. So, when I acquired the Academy M1A1, I thought to build it differently. If the U.S. Navy had this awesome tank, what would it look like in maritime colors? Exactitude can be wearisome — taking a step away from compliance is really a good thing!

Wow!! Love it! Great idea and execution, John! Always good to have some fun with things! I could see taking this a step further by making it into a DD tank with propellors, swimming skirt, protected TC riser, etc. etc. Keep up the good work --- nice job!

I am never limited by accuracy of the eyes. Often the mind has better visions. Go for it John. This is so nice to look at. I have a number of models painted my way, and they have been receiving praises from fellow modelers :-)
