Returning from a modeling hiatus, Donald built Eduard’s 1/48 scale Nieuport 17. He added Eduard’s photoetched-metal interior set. He weathered Testors paints with an acrylic burnt umber wash. The rigging is .002" stainless-steel wire. For a wood-grain paint effect, he laid down a mixture of burnt umber and black and streaked it lengthwise with a small brush. After that had dried, he applied a top coat of light brown. The final step was a coat of clear semigloss lacquer.
