Tamiya’s 1/35 scale M4A3 Sherman (late production) was Michael’s starting point to depict the tank at the Battle of the Bulge. He says, “I accidentally lost several pieces (such as a track-support roller) and scratchbuilt replacements. Other pieces needed major adjustments or little tweaks for fit and accuracy.” He hand-brushed the hull with Testors enamels, spray-painted the tracks, over-coated with Testors Dullcote, and weathered with chalk pastels, washes, and dry-brushing. “A Sherman seemed like a good tank to begin modeling armor,” Michael says. “I was 15 when I built this.”
