Lawrence Cohen, Wappingers Falls, New York

Lawrence says, “This is a late-war representation of a Fletcher-class destroyer. It is scratchbuilt with a microglass hull and detail parts from HR Products. The turrets and stacks are carved from pine; everything else is hand-crafted from brass rod, styrene, and basswood. It started out as a radio-controlled model, but after all the detailing it became too delicate to put in the water.” Lawrence used pictures of the USS Morrison as a reference. He didn’t provide a scale but says the model is more than 40" long and took more than two years to complete.
