Quinntin Reynolds, Cedar City, Utah
Quinntin modeled Minicraft’s 1/144 scale E-3C for his stepfather as a JE-3C, test aircraft for the U.S. Air Force’s Sentry. “He was a commander of the test team on this aircraft,” Quinntin says. “Most of the major parts were reshaped, including the engine mounts and radar-dish stanchions.” He made antennas from soda-can aluminum and painted the plane with Testors Model Master enamel and Metalizers. The markings are a mix of dry transfers for the tail number and homemade decals for the radar dish. “It was a pleasure making this kit for another of the United States' unsung heroes,” Quinntin says. “He says the model is like having ‘an old friend’ in his office.”
