Stephen installed a Koster Aero Enterprises conversion on Monogram’s 1/48 scale B-24J to model a PB4Y-2. He says it is a stern challenge, “a near-total destruction of the Monogram B-24. In fact, all that is used is the middle of the fuselage, about the length of the bomb bay. The rest of the airframe and wings are vacuum-formed. There are resin engines, cowlings, and turrets, and metal .50-caliber guns to replace the ones in the Monogram kit.”
This kit is currently on my bench. And yea, it's a bear! I don't blame you for replacing most of yours with vacume form and resin parts. Very nice work, great finish!
Someday I gotta do this one. Well done!
Beautiful work Stephen.
Beautiful work! I've been tinkering with a 1/48 PB4Y-1 based on the Monogram B-24J kit w/ aftermarket & scratch built parts. I'm going to have to find a place to display it when it is finally done!
Beautiful, Stephen. Matchbox used to have a 1/72 scale of the PB4Y-2 but was not able to purchase one. When I saw your model I thought Monogram finally produced one. I have a Monogram B-24J and I can not imagine the effort involved to convert it to a PB4Y-2. Well done!
