Released in 1952, Lindberg’s 1/48 scale Flying Saucer “was probably the first all-plastic science fiction kit ever produced in the U.S.A.” according to John W. Burns’ 1999 edition of The Collectors Value Guide for Scale Model Plastic Kits. The Roswell-inspired UFO (with little green pilot) was reissued by Glencoe and later Atlantis. Tom says, “Enhancements include cast main-engine flames, sculptured rim flames, an upgraded ‘glass’ cockpit with additional instruments, arms added to pilot, blaster guns from my spares box, and homemade decals.”
