Aftermarket decals and clipped wings marked Bruce’s Airfix 1/48 scale Corsair as that of Canadian Lt. Hampton Gray, awarded the Victorian Cross after being killed in action at Onagawa Bay in Japan on Aug. 9, 1945 — the same day an atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. He was one of the last Canadians to die in World War II.
