To finish his Academy 1/35 scale early Tiger, Steve base-coated Tamiya flat aluminum (XF-16), applied red primer, and then the camouflage, coating here and there with hairspray between each layer to later wear away layers of paint with a cotton swab. He added Friulmodel tracks and a turned-aluminum barrel from Aber; he had to modify the gun to accept the barrel, which actually was made for the Dragon kit. “It was fun doing the alterations,” Steve says.
