Tom Fort

Edinburg, Texas

Tom worked 21st Century Toys’ metal 1/18 scale U.S. Army M4 into a U.S. Marine Corps Sherman for some friends in San Antonio. He says, “The lady’s father, Sgt. Jack Bowman, drove a Sherman during several Pacific island campaigns. His unit was Co. B, 4th Medium Tanks, 4th Marine Division. She wanted the model done as a tribute to him.” With no photo of the tank, Tom had to imagine the markings, though he says the vehicle is marked for the 4th Medium Tanks, 4th Marine Division. He adds, “The name Bowman follows the Marines’ frequent use of a name with the first letter being the same as the tank company.” Tom painted the Robin Hood figure and printed decals for other markings.
