Patrick Papworth
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
Although she never berthed in a Confederate port, the British-built CSS Alabama boarded more than 400 vessels, captured or burned 65 United States merchant ships, and took more than 2,000 prisoners during her two-year career before being sunk off Cherbourg, France, by the USS Kearsarge in June 1864. Patrick scratchbuilt the rebel raider in 1/50 scale; the model is about 4' long with an individually planked deck, six 30-pound cannons, one 60-pounder, and a 100-pound naval rifle.
