Tamiya’s 1/12 scale Repsol Honda NSR500V was a starting point for Neale, who added carbon-fiber decals, photoetched-metal rotors and rivets, retaining springs, muffler brackets, and brass exhaust tips to model the 500cc bike ridden by Tadayuki Okada in 1998. He finished the racer with Tamiya acrylic paints and Zero Paints automotive lacquer and urethane clear coat; aftermarket decals came from Shunko Models.
