Derek Beningfield

Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada

Building FineMolds’ 1/72 scale “Star Wars” X-wing fighter, Derek added styrene strip details to the fuselage, hoses represented by ship-rigging string, pistons for the canopy opening mechanism, and a false canopy on the bottom as seen on present-day jet fighters. “I also added 19 kill symbols on the port side of the cockpit, underneath the canopy. I wanted to add 30 but I didn’t have room,” he says.
