Gil Roberto Alves de Carvalho

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Just after noon on June 8, 1943, while anchored at Hashirajima fleet anchorage, the Japanese battleship Mutsu exploded and sank with the loss of 1,121 men. A Japanese naval commission determined the cause was a disgruntled crewman. Gil used White Ensign photoetched metal on Hasegawa’s 1/350 scale kit, more metal detail from Hasegawa, and a wood deck from MK1 Design. The crew comes from a Fujimi set.
