Trumpeter K5 railway gun – February 2016

Mark Corcoran

Vancouver, Washington

When Krupp’s K5 railway gun fired its 1/4-ton 28cm shell, the 71'-long barrel had to be lined up within 2 degrees of the rail to stay on the track. Trumpeter’s 1/35 scale kit is no small matter, either, with a barrel that’s a little more than 24" long! Mark parked a Tamiya Steyr Type 1500 staff car trackside and peopled the scene with figures from Tamiya’s German Observation Group as well as a few from his spares.
