Photo-editing wizardry renders an image that looks like a 60-year-old keepsake. Nicolas writes: “The Saunders-Roe SR.53 was a British interceptor prototype built in 1957. Only two machines were produced and tested before cancellation. It was powered by an A.S. Viper turbojet coupled to a D.H. Spectre rocket jet. The Airfix 1/72 scale kit was first issued in 1958, and, although the shapes and dimensions were good, the kit was crude. The pictured model retains only original wings and fuselage; everything else was scratchbuilt, including the two engines. Brant Chaisson worked out the background picture.”
