Working off and on for several years, Stan built the Testors 1/48 scale RF-4C. He added resin details to the cockpit, intakes, exhausts, and wheel wells, and used Testors Model Master enamels to paint it in gull gray over white, the scheme he recalls from working with the aircraft at RAF Alconbury, England, where he was stationed in 1965. “But it’s the IsraDecals stencils that really make it look great,” he says. “Later, I was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, where I flew in the back seat of the camouflaged RF-4C. It was big, noisy, dirty, and fast — a thrill to fly in.”
