Edward Angel
Lompoc, California
Edward built MPC’s 1/25 scale Olsonite Eagle Indy car in its 1995 box. He says, “It’s an impressive kit for its day but it needs some work.” He de-chromed several parts and scratchbuilt the winglet and bracing. He says, “The biggest problem is the tires and wheels. They’re are not close to being accurate. On the rear tires, I cut off the sidewalls, carefully carved out a width of tread, then super glued the tires back together. I then cut the wheels down to match. They’re better but still too wide and a little short. The front tires are too small, but I couldn't come up with a solution so I left them as they are. Finally, I narrowed the rear track by carving 1/32" off each wheel hub.” He primed with black and airbrushed decanted Testors metallic blue spray paint.
