Amit Bhattacharya
Hollywood, California
Using Fine Molds’ 1/48 scale Savoia S.21, Amit made modifications — opened hatches and engine cowling, additional levers and control cables in the cockpit, brace-wires for the floats, and an engine crank handle — and modeled the opening scene from Hayao Miyazaki’s 1992 animated film Porco Rosso. Amit says: “Other features include a modified Porco Rosso pilot figure and a mixture of scratchbuilt, aftermarket, and photo-etch items. Scratchbuilt items include the ramp, deck chair, table, radio, telephone, umbrella, shovel, tool box, hose, all small items on the table and magazine. Aftermarket and PE includes fuel drums, ladder, bucket, and tools.” Amit painted and weathered with Vallejo acrylics, artist’s oils, and pastels.
