Joe Russell

Boone, Iowa

Joe says he built Academy’s 1/72 scale Curtiss P-40B “as a replica of the P-40Bs from the time when they were the primary workhorse of the U.S. Army Air Corps. My grandfather served in World War II, so because of him I have always been interested in World War II aircraft and vehicles.” He pre-shaded with a lightly airbrushed base coat of flat black, then sprayed the Warhawk with Testors olive drab, desert brown, and light ghost gray in thin layers to let the pre-shading show through.
