Joe Vattilana

Wilmington, Delaware

If you can’t find a 1/48 scale model of a Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne, do what Joe did — build it from scratch. The fuselage is vacuum-formed over a master Joe sculpted in Bondo. The wings, tail, and horizontal stabilizer are made from sheet styrene; rocket pods, rotor blades, and wheels came from a Monogram Apache. A combination of Monogram Apache parts and scratchbuilding produced the main rotor unit, while the nose turret was appropriated from a Lego space toy.
