Davis Gandees

Lutz, Florida

Using styrene sheet, Davis converted Tamiya’s 1/48 scale F2A-3 Buffalo to the longer-nosed F2A-3. He added a layer of usage by mixing intermediate blue and gray to paint the rudder and wingtips. It’s otherwise weathered with powdered graphite and pastels and wet-sanded to reveal aluminum, zinc chromate, and blue undercoats. The model represents an advanced trainer at Naval Air Station Miami in 1942.
