The Heinkel He 162 Volksjäger (People’s Fighter) was supposed to be simple and easy to fly. But with his build of Revell Germany’s 1/32 scale Salamander, Ernie complicated things, adding CMK resin details to the cockpit, gun bays and engine. He says, “Tons of electrical copper wires from discarded cords were stripped and used with solder and floral wire for the engine plumbing and wiring in the cockpit and gear wells.” He painted the camouflage with Testors Model Master enamels and used various shades of Alclad II metallics on the engine.
