John says, “This Tamiya 1/12 scale Lotus Type 49 is the first large scale model I have built. It was quite a challenge to add enough extra detail to the model so it would not look like a toy. I replaced all of the plastic bolt heads with stainless steel bolts and installed ignition wiring using fine wire of various gauges. I also added brake plumbing with stainless-steel pipe fittings and braided hose, and a complete set of safety harnesses.” John cut a swatch of leather glove to upholster the driver’s seat and painted the body with racing green from a Tamiya spray can.
