Derek built his Academy 1/72 F-14A to depict a fighter right after the first Gulf of Sidra incident when two Libyan Su-22s fired on a pair of Tomcats and were subsequently shot down. He weathered his F-14 in accordance to photo references taken of the Tomcats after their mission.
