Mike Walston

Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Mike made an AMT 1/650 scale USS Enterprise kit with some battle damage and renamed it the USS Lexington, shown here executing an emergency saucer separation. Not surprisingly, he calls this build "Separation Anxiety." Mike bent a single piece of steel wire around the interior of the saucer, down through the nacelle and pylon, then into the secondary hull, and finally into a plaque base. He lit the model with nine LEDs powered by a 9-volt battery inside the secondary hull. Mike said, “The real anxiety came when I had to build most of it around that wire then paint and finish it with that saucer wobbling the whole time!”
