There's just something inherently wrong with that! Big Smile [:D]

I've looked into the tail numbers of some of the Florida Cobra fire bombers and they're all late model Cobras, none are remanufactured G models from what I've been able to find.

Cool pics though!

I always thought we'd see more old Cobras go into police service over time... Great visability, high speed, lots of tech support... Hang a FLIR/NightSun unit under the nose and viola! Bear-in-the-Air with attitude!

I think it's great to see once retired warriors back in the air. Even if their new mission is fighting fire, law enforcement, etc... When I was in Montana I remember seeing A-26's and PBY4's fighting fires. I also thought it was great to see the OV-10's back in action for BLM flying lead for fire bombers. Up here in Alaska we've still got greasy threes, C-46's, C-119's and even a few C-133's hauling much needed fuel and cargo to the bush areas. Evergreen brought up a former USAF rescue HH-3E (S-61 I believe) for the heavy sling load market, and up at Eielson AFB "Barney" is still flying range support missions for a private contractor. Barney is the affectionate name for a purple H-19 owned by the contractor, although she's long in the tooth and may soon be retired due to parts shortages. One of our retired Pavehawk pilots flys her.
