Sorry, but how much space does this kit take up? for $12 more it seems you get a heck of lot more helicopter.

It's sitting along the back of my shelf.  Taking about 20-21".  I've got room to put other models in front. Laugh [(-D]

The 1/35 version is abouit 15 inches long from nose to tail.  With the rotor overhang in the front, it is about 20 inches long.  It is a nice, big kit to fill with details.

In 1/35, the Academy, MRC, and Italeri boxings are all the same kit, with a couple different decal options.  It is a great kit and can come out nicely straight OOB.  With either Cobra Company or Verlinden's upgrade sets or some extra effort and TLC, it can look awesome.  There was a great decal set, now out of production, by Two Bobs Aviation Graphics that can still be found from time to time called "Whiskeys in the Mix" that had a bunch of good-looking schemes on it too.   Eduard also makes a couple PE sets for it too.

Here is a great step-by-step build review of the Academy AH-1W at Aeroscale.

I have built a couple and they can come out great.  I highly recommend them.

I am not sure which is best in 1/72.  I believe the Italeri and Revell ones are the same molds as well though.  The two companies rebox each other's products pretty regularly.

Good luck.
