Helicopter in your backyard?
Posted by ww2modeler on Saturday, August 23, 2008 7:20 PM

Well, sorry if it seems like I'm spamming the Helo forum but:

On the way out too dinner tonight a helicopter was circling really low (300 ft. MAYBE) over a field about 1/2 a mile away. It did this about 3 times and then we saw that it had its landing gear lowered. So, we drove out and we saw the thing land right in the field. Pretty cool watching it come down with alll the dust flying up. I think it was a Dauphin. I took some pictures on the cell and I'll TRY to post them.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

David

On the bench:

1/35 Tamiya M26 Pershing-0%

1/144 Minicraft P-38J Lightning-50%

Numerous 1/35 scale figures in various stages if completion.

I remember back in the late 70's when I was in the Army Reserve crewing a UH-1H Medvac and we were out getting in some flight time and we over flew my great Uncle's farm.  I mentioned it and the pilots decided to make an unscheduled stop in the pasture next to his barn.  They didn't know what to think until I took off my helmet and they recognized me.  They talked about that Huey dropping in for years!  Now days that would get you in trouble big time!

Clear Left!

We had a 900 acre grass fire in the hills a mile or so behind us. A chopper was picking up water from a pond behind my house. This is the view from my deck:

 That was pretty close!
