Special Hobby 1/48 Fa.223 Drache
Posted by Swanny on Saturday, September 13, 2008 7:04 PM

This is the Special Hobby 1/48 Fa.223 Drache and it is a real pig of a kit. Several fit issues, instructions were poor, many parts were simply the wrong size and had to be remanufactured but after months of sitting on my workbench taunting me it is complete. It ended up being a real tail sitter and there is no where in the nose to place counterweight but it will hang from the ceiling so no worries there. So for your consideration here is the Luftwaffe's heavy lifting helicopter.

Swanny, I think she looks great!  I really like that glass house canopy!

Looks great Swanny!

I've been tempted to get the Drache kit, but I'm a little more hesitant now....

I think it came out great. I just got my FM H-21 and it arrived in terrible shape. All kinds of extra plastic from poor molds left on the molded parts. Many parts were broken loose from their attachments, and the instructions might as well been written in Spanish. Good thing I have lots of reference material because I will need it.

Anyway, great job on your helicopter.
