I used to be on a HeliTac crew in Oregon in the mid '70's, quite exciting, wish I had some pics too.

The US Forest Service, uses the term to discribe a fire line crew, taken by helo, to the fire line. Fire line crew is used to bulid fire breaks, clear brush from a hill side. Generaly on the flank of a fire not in front of one. Using Helitac crews put line personell on the fire line faster then a ground driven crew can arrive, minutes instead of hours. It's also use to put crews in to remote locations that might take a long time to 'hike' into.
If that helps. A picture of these would be nice to see, Fire fighting helicopters is what I like to make.

There was a news report a couple of days ago on the radio in Sydney that two strange yellow helicopters had been sighted in the air over town. Most people in Sydney know Elvis and friends but did not recognise the two new yellow ones, The turned out to be HeliTac 335 and friend. Now my question is What the heli are HeliTacs?
They are to be based at an RAAF base where a friend is the CO so I will try to get pictures.
Dai.
