Seen the back cover of FSM (H-53 fans)?

Shows Academy's new 1/48 MH-53E.  'Bout time! Now I can tell the Mrs. what I want for Xmas.  I'd post a pic, but I'm at work.  Hope this hasn't been posted before...

Looking at the images of the model it still looks as if they did not mold rivets on it. I wonder why they are leaving off that critical detail. Bummer, but she is still a beautiful model.

Yeah, I love 53's.  I knew this one was coming because I built the CH-53E kit.  The fuselage has cut outs for the enlarged MH sponsons.  That was a big clue.  For Your Info, On the real deal, CH-53E sponsons are desinged to be changed out with MH-53E sponsons.  I don't think it's ever been done.  I wonder if the kit is going to include a mine sled.

Chris,

What would they do about the side windows if they changed out sponsons?  I haven't been around a MH in many moons and at the time didn't look inside.  If Academy does include a mine sled (which they better since the rear-view mirror looks like it's there) I'm already thinking about how to reinforce the sled tow cable to support the weight of the helo in a diorama.  That, plus a resin (or whatever) water base is going to be huge!

Nevermind, I went home and clicked on that link and looked at the parts pics.  Looks like no mine sled, just the bigger sponsons and little bits to make an MH.  Cobra Company?
