Air rescue GB?
Posted by Aaronw on Saturday, December 20, 2008 3:15 PM

I also posted this in the aircraft forum but since helicopters have become the dominant rescue aircraft I thought it belonged here too.

Would there be any interest in a group build focused on aeriel rescue? Military or civilian fixed wing, rotorwing, lighter than air vehicles used to save lives. It includes a wide selection of aircraft from the air sea rescue flying boats of WW2 to modern air ambulances.

Armed combat aircraft like the MH-60 and HH-3 Jolly Green Giant are more than welcome as are military aircraft pressed into service as long as the individual aircraft modeled can be shown in humanitarian service (UH-60, C-130 etc used to support disater relief efforts).

There are quite a few out of the box options available for those with limited time.

I'm thinking January 1 through July 1 2009 if there is an interest (I turn into a complete flake between July and October and would not be able to be any use moderating the GB after July).

Sounds interesting!  If I could find the time I would have a good one for WW II, Pacific Theater, C-47 and Glider Rescue of crash surviors in the Hidden Valley of Dutch New Guinea, June 28, 1945.  3 survived a C-47 crash on Mothers Day, May 13, 1945 that took the lives of 21 others.  My namesake was killed in the crash, Melvin A. Mollberg of Baudette, MN.

I know I should have replied in the Aircraft Section!

Clear Left!

Aaron,

With Mardi Gras in Feb and my Unit Reunion the first of May, I'll probably not have the time!  I have lots of projects to do for both!  Wishful thinking!  Heh, heh!

Well it sounds like a great idea for a diorama, if this GB gets off the ground and you find yourself with the time you would be welcome.
