I have built, over the years, many of the 1/72 offerings of this helo. I would have to agree that the Hobby Boss one is the best but also have not seen a Zvezda one. I recently bought another book on the Mi 24 which contained loads of interesting upgrades from various countries eg Israel, that would be fun to scratch build. The book is 'Mil Mi 24 Hind,by  Yefim Gordon and Dmitry Kommissarov isbn 1 84037 238 9. Seem a bit different than the standard 4 rocket pods and 4 ATGM on the rails. Different sensor suite fit and nose cannon, one showing a twin GSh-23L chin barbette.
Its not vengeance........it's punishment!

From what I've been hearing about the Hobby Boss kit it sounds like that is the one to get unless you want an A model, then Hasegawa (and I guess Heller, I didn't know they did one) are your only options.

Aaron,

The Heller kit is most likely a rebox of the Airfix kit, since Heller owned Airfix for a while.  There's also the Hobbycraft Mi-24 with the cheek mounted twin 30's, which is probably the old ESCI kit.  Just checked the Squadron site and they have the Hobby Boss in stock.  Looks like it will be added to the next order.  Didn't know about the Zvezda offering, has anybody seen it?

Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.

That's the same kit, it's Italeri in origins and is noted for having the main rotor going the wrong way around.

My understanding is that the recent Hobby Boss kit is the best Mi-24 going in 1/72 these days.

On ebay there is a tamiya Mil MI-24 kit

has anybody built it ?

I have been looking for it in my local store as tamiya kits are usually good but i cannot find it and its not listed on any model store websites in the uk

I have not heard of a Tamiya kit, it is likely the same as the Italeri / Revell kit. Tamiya re-boxes a lot of Italeri kits for the Japanese market.

Hi craig , I do have Heller's kit number 80369 , Mil Mi-24 Hind A/D in my stash

As the instructions show you have the option of building the early A version or the D model . The clear parts for the canopy aren't too thick and the frame lines around the canopy are quite good too .

I have only ever built some Mi-8s , so I'm not able to tell you how the kit fits together , all the panel lines are raised and there wasn't that much excess flash on the sprue's

Sorry I couldn't be of more help , hopfully some other FSM members with a lot more knowlege and experience on the Mi-24 can provide some more assistance

                                        Kind regards John
