UH-1C Slicks?

  So you want UH-1C slicks, huh?  Well here's about all I could find out of MANY photos.  As I mentioned before trainers or test birds are your best bet, but I did find this apparent Vietnam photo which i suspect shows a bird that hasn't been armed yet.  No other reason for a UH-1C without teeth in country!

Ray, your build is coming along nicely. Can not wait to see more. You ought to do a WIP thread on it. I found and ordered a 1/72nd Revell Ch-54 and 1/48th O-1 Bird Dog today from Old Model Kits.Com. I could go broke buying many of the models I would love to have from that place.

Ditto on what everyone else has said so far. I flew the last active-duty C/M model to the boneyard in the late 80's. It was stationed at Huntsville and used as a test bird. I really enjoyed that last flight and was sorry to see her go. She still had a lot of the original bullet hole patches on her from her days in Vietnam.

  The Uh-1C was, as Gino mentioned, manufactured as an interim gunship to replace the UH-1B before the AH-1G was fielded.  They were built from 1965-1967 and around 770 were built for the US Army.  By the time the UH-1C arrived, the UH-1D was the preferred medivac due to it's larger cabin.  The only "slick" uh-1C's operated by the US Army that I am familiar with were some fo the trainers at Ft. Rucker and perhaps some of the Army Aviation Test Board aircraft.  As it happens, I am building a UH-1C Ft. Rucker trainer.  Here are a couple of pics of the original and my progress on the build.  I hope that helps with your question.  As for UH-1C medivacs, I have looked at well over 30,000 images of Hueys and never seen one, but I never say never!

Not many.  The C was designed as a gunship.  There weeer some early Bs used in the above roles, but the D came quickly on their heels and took those roles over.
