Dragon UH-1N Desert Storm Vintage???
Posted by cairnsy01 on Thursday, January 15, 2009 9:09 PM

G'Day all, I'm on a bit of a UH-1 kick at the moment with a 1-35 B,C and H model in the works at the moment and was keen to put a UH-1N together in the HMLA-367 Sand/Brown Camo circa 1991 and was curious how close the newer Dragon release was to this vintage or if there will be a bit of work required to get it there? And also what was the normal weapons config for this vintage Minigun on one side and .50 on the other? and were the rockets used very often?

Cheers

Yes, the basic helicopter is accurate for an ODS bird.  The .50 cal on one side and M134 minigun on the other, with rockets, was/is the correct weapons set up.  The rockets are usually used when the weapons are mounted.  As a note though, they are usually 7-shot launchers though, not the M200 19-shots that come with the kit.  I don't know where they got the weapons layout for the kit from.  It is more like what the USAF 20th SOS "Green Hornets" used in Vietnam, not a USMC weapons set-up.

Back in 2007 , I asked a similar question about USMC Huey's in Desert Storm . Lately I have been going back through my old posts to recover a lot of pic's I lost when one of my CD disc's crashed . I found the link to some Marine Huey pic's , one of the FSM members kindly posted for everyone to see .

Here's the link.../forums/826537/ShowPost.aspx

I hope this helps a little .
