Apache Longbow reference needed please
Posted by Redfinger on Saturday, January 17, 2009 12:40 AM

I am building Has' 1/48 Longbow, I needed some reference photo's if anyone has and had a question or two as well....

The kit I got comes w/ the Stinger Missle attachments on the wing ends....I seem to remember reading that this is not common on Longbow's?  I could be wrong though, any thoughts?

The reference I needed is from the maintinence bays, avionics bay, and the engine and engine compartment...I am thinking of detailing these areas out and will need some reference to scratch build some parts from.

Any help is apreciated guys!

Ashton,

You're off to a good start with the Hasegawa Longbow kit.  Only the Japanese have the capability to carry Stingers on their Longbows, but the mounting lugs are present on the wingtips of all D models.  As for the contents of avionics bays, a lot of that is somewhat sensitive.  The Verlinden resin update for the AH-64A had some bay interiors, but they were fictional for the most part.

I will say that the decals in the kit are completely inaccurate for a US AH-64D, but fear not, I'm working with Twobobs on a new, comprehensive AH-64 decal sheet that should be out in a month or two.  If you're looking to do a Block 2 AH-64D (2003 model year and later), there may be some resin coming out soon to update the Hasegawa kit.  I'm working on the masters now.

If you need a copy of the Walkaround book, drop me an email.

A quick way to get useful exterior shot is to go to Google, select Images, and run a search for AH-64D.  Several shots are pretty useful.

I made some close up shots an air show where an AH-64D was on display. If you want I can try to send/load for you.

 Cheers!
