Anyone ever ordered from Luck Model.com
Posted by Helo H-34 on Thursday, January 22, 2009 9:00 PM

I was wondering if anyone has ever ordered kits from Lucky Model.com . I saw a few Tamiya 1/72 scale Helicopter kits that I'm interested in . I was just curious about their service and shipping time .

                                       Kind regards John

John

Simple answer is yes. Don't sweat ordering from them. The BIGGEST key is checking the status of the product.  IN STOCK =  yes order me.  AVAILABLE really means that its not and is out of stock.  (There must be a glitch in their website, because if you click on the "AVAILABLE" link, the explanation is that the item is out of stock. The third indicator for status (that I can't recall) also indicates the item is out of stock. Ordering time is pretty reasonable, my one and only order took in the neighborhood of 10 - 12 days.  Also, do a search here on FSM forums for Lucky Model. There should be many questions similar too yours. I know, one of them is mine.  If you have other modelers in the area, see if you can place a bigger order.

I've ordered a few times from them. Prices are great, shipping costs are fairly low and they can be as fast as anyone else. Make sure that the kits you buy are in stock though, or you could be in for a lengthy wait.

So long folks!

Thank's Guys

I'll just order the one kit to start with and see how that goes . I'll let everyone know how it works out .

Check the freight costs. You might find you can order a couple more kits for the same cost!

Like Bgrigg says look at the shipping. It is weight based so you can probably get 2 to 5 1/72 kits before the shipping goes up. Being in Australia it may be different but ordering from the US getting the most out of the shipping makes a big difference in how good a deal I end up with on my final price.

One nice thing I've found with Lucky Model is they carry some Italeri helicopter kits boxed by Tamiya, that are not currently available from Italeri. I got a couple of OH-58A kits last year that I had not seen available over here.

Hi Aaronw ,

I went back and checked their site again , the kit I wanted the most was in stock a Fujimi VH-53E VIP Super Stallion . Unfortunatly the Tamiya Helicopter kits that I was interested in were only listed as 'available' . So as dave and Bgrigg mentioned I checked each item and it said that they would place an order with the supplier . I decided not to order the Tamiya kits untill their listed as in stock . I know what everyone means about the shipping costs , when I ordered kits from Squadron and Tower Hobbies there in the US , I would always order 3 kits each time as you correctly point out the shipping cost was about the same for 1-3 items . Anyway I've been looking at Lucky Models site on and off for a few months now , at one stage they had quite a few Fujimi Helicopter Kits that I was interested in , I probably should of asked about their service back then , the other kits may have been in stock ...

Anyway I ordered the VH-53E , the shipping time is about 7-11 days , I'll let everone know when the kit arrives and what I think of their shipping and prompt service

Thank's again everyone ... Kind regards John
