It's totally out of the box especially since this is my first helo kit in 6 years. It's also my second helo kit I've ever done.
There were a few issues:
- There's no locating points for the seats. Placement is complete quess work.
- The loading ramp sits a little too low. Both rear landing wheels won't sit on the ground at the same time because of this. It's an easy fix but something I didn't realize until everything was glued together.
- Tons of decals. There must be over 200, easy.
- There's different options for installing the decals around the side windows depending on how you configure the windows. The instructions don't address this and I didn't realize it until afterwards. I'm talking about those yellow dashed decals around the window openings.
- The control panels in the cockpit have raised detail and a decal goes over them. This required a lot of setting solution.
Other than that, the kit went together really well. I used bare metal foil to mask the windows. It worked great for masking but was a pain in the rear getting it off. I scratched the windows a few times trying to get it off. I also chipped the paint on the framing so I had to do some touchup work. I think next time I'll stay with Tamiya's tape for masking.
Thanks for all the kind comments,
Jesse
