Huey/ doors /pre diorama
Posted by shark64 on Sunday, March 15, 2009 8:55 PM

Hi guys,

I finally received my diorama products from England. I can start putting things together. I worked on the doors this morning. The plan is to start painting the interior in the near future....very near.

I am still waiting to for the aircraft carrier tractor to arrive from Belgium/

Hi Charlie.

I went to a model swap meet this morning and found 1/24 Monogram Huey. I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the braces.....not quite done yet. Thanks.

Oliver,

That is some amazing amount of detail work you have done.  Are you going to "back date" the UH-1C to a B?  I only mention it because I'm fairly certain the C's with the 540 rotor system and cambered tail fin were only used as Gunships.  Cobra Company has just what you would need to do this.

How did you pick Shark64 for your screen name?  The first Unit I was assigned to in Vietnam was the 174th AHC and the Guns were the Sharks.  Check out our Web Page  www.174ahc.org

Andy did a great UH-1C called Mustang 6.  You can do a search and find his post.  He also detailed the engine and transmission area.

Thanks for sharing and keep us updated.

Great build

Mel, maybe not offically. When my Guard unit went to the range we used one of our "C's" for a medi-vac, threw a couple of strechers on the ammo boxes and had a medic or two aboard, use to sit at the range tower in case we were needed

Oliver,

Glad to see you made it over to FSM.  You're gonna find there are quite a few of us that appreciate a good Huey build here.  Thanks for posting you pics.

Hi Mel.

I am very aware of Intruder Bass' helo. It is an amazing build. I often look at it. I will not backdate to a "B" at all. I am not building a Vietnam Huey. My helo is not accurate at all. I wanted to do a medevac version regardless of the unit and where it flew. Someday I will build an accurate version of a Vietnam Huey....probably a gunship. I like the one with the shark mouth.

Thanks for the kind words.

 Ray.

I should hire you as my agent. You take me  to all the good sites. You are directly responsible for me posting on Fine Scale site.

Oliver,

No Sweat!  I just didn't know how much reference material you had and you being new to the Forum.  As Grandadjohn stated they "unofficially"  used "C's" as Medevac.  I never say "never"!  As a buddy of mine once stated at a Contest, "Have you seen all 10,000 plus aircraft to say with certainty an aircraft wasn't painted and configured as mine!"  You build to please your self!

Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

Hi Mel.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with your friend you never know. I knew going in that it was going to be a ficticious Huey. I hope I wont offend  anyboby by doing so.
