For some unknown reason that link wouldn't work .

I'll try and google HMM-163 and "Evil Eyes" to see if I can find some additional images .

Thank's for the help anyway .

 Hi Aaronw ,

Thank's for the info on the Hobbyboss UH-34D kit , very much appreciated .

I was looking through some of my referrence books and I found this pic in the Wayne Mutza , Bent and Battered Rotors book

She seem's to have the bent style landing gear although she definitly isn't having a good day !!!

The pic gives me an idea on a possible dioramma , I have some of those Fujimi Flight Deck Carrier vehicles and Fire Trucks , I wonder if I can find some additional images showing more of the helicopter , especially the rotor damage .

MMMMM , something to think about Confused [%-)]

The Hobbyboss kit is decent, but the Italari kit is nicer overall with better fit and crisper detail. If you need the bent leg landing gear and can't easily find the older Italeri UH-34D kit the Hobbyboss will build into a nice model, so I wouldn't avoid the kit, just be prepared to spend a little more time with it.

As far as accuracy hard to say, the photo looks like a museum display so there is no telling if it is really that aircraft or even an actual USMC aircraft. Acording to one of the books I have on the H-34 some aircraft were upgraded to the V style landing gear but it was a huge project and was not done to many aircraft so that is unlikely. Without a period photo, it is hard to say which is accurate.

Personally I think I would just make life easier and go with the Hobbyboss kit as is.

A question about Hobbyboss 1/72 UH-34D Choctaw kit

 Hi everyone ,

I just have a quick question about the accurracy of the 1/72 Hobbyboss UH-34D Choctaw kit .

The kit has the early style bent gear legs and has those nice decals with the eye's on the nose. However a couple of pics I saw on www.airlinners.net show the UH-34D " YP-20 " with the later style V type landing gear .

Should I use Italeri's kit with the Hobbyboss decals instead or was the UH-34D upgraded during it's service life and fitted with later style landing gear ???

                                      Kind regards John
