After FINALLY procuring this kit, it looks like I'm going to have to use the kit decals since there doesn't seem to be much else out there aftermarket.

My question is this:  For this particular helicopter, with the orange side panels, do I use 34087 Olive drab or 34031 army helo drab???

Two Bobs and Carpena each made a sheet with Army 1S Cobras on them. Both are OOP but can occasionally be found. Helo Drab is the color the 1S should be in.

and a new company called Werners Wings has a decal sheet slated for relase in August

Check out www.wernerswings.com .  I have a set of decals coming out for this kit.  It includes markings for 14 aircraft.  There is bound to be something in there that you like.  Here is a link to a preview with photos down the thread some: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=187110

To answer your question, use the US Army Helicpoter Color (FS34031) from the Model Master Acrylic Range.  The enamel is too grey.

Thanks, Floyd.  I've seen your postings on other sites and took your advice on using the acrylic rather than the enamel on my recent Apache.  I'm very pleased with the results!

And I'll definitely get that sheet you're releasing!
