Hey thanks guys .... I'm not too worried about contest rules for now. I don't think that there's an IPMS ruling that says it has to conform to the base, but I could be wrong.

I hear what you guys are saying about saying inside for "safety's" sake, but the tail boom will be hanging off the backside for this one. Its not too bad when you look at it, as from the viewer's perspective, you hardly even notice it.

Thanks for your opinion on this one guys. I appreciate it.

That question has been debated on this forum a few times...I feel it is personal preference....I will agree that it is safer to have is within the bases borders for obvious reasons, My trees on The Bridge stuck out a little, no big deal to me, But I did watch a man rake the brim of his baseball cap all the way down on of those trees at a contest, dried veggies were flying everywhere! very unnerving...I have builds both ways. contest rules i'm not sure about...

All my helicopter models extend past the base. Ditto on what Heavy artillery stated, there are no rules. If the over all model and base looked balanced and pleasing to the eye, that is all you need.

There are no rules as to how much should or should not hang over the edge of the base.  I like to keep overhang to a minimum for safety reasons.  The more that hangs over the edge, the more chance it can catch on somthing and break off.

Here's one for you rotor guys ....

I'm working on my MH-6 build and I'm now looking at the layout of the model to the building and to the base. What's acceptable as far as how much the tail boom can go off the base? If the main part of the helo is over the base is that ok? Or should most of the helo (as a whole) be within the base "boundaries".

Thanks in advance.
