Matching color for Eduard´s Mi-24 Cockpit-Set?
Posted by Theoden on Friday, August 21, 2009 4:05 AM

Hi folks!

I´m currently building Trumpeter´s 1/35 Hind and I´ve purchased Eduard´s colored Cockpit Detail set (color in the picture is significantly different to the real PE).

Now I´m wondering what color I need to buy/mix to match the bluegreen of the PE. Does anybody have experience with the set and found a solution?

My second idea is to use liquid mask on all the gauges, panels and switches and then airbrush the whole cockpit in the same bluegreen. As this will prove very tedious, I thought, I might ask beforehand if anyone has found the corresponding correct color.

Kind regards,

Eric

In the Testors Model Master line is the exact match called USSR Interior Blue/Green.  It is the color you need.

Not necessarily. Maybe You could mix something close (I did that once - Humbrol 122 with some blue addition) and paint the rest with it. After some washing and drybrushing the colors would blend some, and the resulting difference would only add interest to the build. If You look close enough, You can sometimes see color variation among different parts of the same cockpit. So I sayYou only need to get close. Hope it helps, have a nice day

Thanks for the tip, Pawel!

I will order some Humbrol colors and play around a bit. After closer inspection I came to the conclusion that my idea of masking would definitely lead to some loss of detail nevertheless...

Have you tried Model Master 2135 Turquoise?
