Added some more Israeli Helicopters to my collection
Posted by Helo H-34 on Thursday, August 27, 2009 9:47 PM

 Hi everyone ,

I finally finished some more IDF Helicopters to add to my collection .

One of my IDF/AF reference books had a really cool pic of a newly arrived ex USMC CH-53A , so I decided to build one . I've alway's liked the Tri-color scheme on Marine Corps helicopters and it's certainly something different on an Israeli bird ; " all be , it was only temporary .

Thank's to image shack for hosting my pic's .

                     Kind regards John

John,

You have to be the most prolific modeler I know.  That's a nice IDF collection you got there.  I like the tri-color CH-53.  Thanks for sharing the pics.

 Hi Ray ,

Thank's for the kind words . I haven't been able to spend as much time at the workbench this year , as I have been able to do in the past ; Lot's of family commitments these past 8 months .

I'm trying to organize my work bench and finish off the builds that are 95% complete

and then move onto a whole stack of Huey's that are nearly finished , half finished and one's I really want to start now ..... I'm slowly getting it together

Thank's again for the kind complement's on my Helicopter builds .

I picked up four Hobbyboss IDF helicopter kits this past week to add to my stash .

The kits look okay ; There are two minor issue's though , with the Cobra kits the 20mm 3 barrell canon is rather plain looking [just 3 pieces of plastic rod molded together] and the box art for the Longbow Apache shows those Air Data Sensor probes on top of the engine nacelle's but sadly there not included in the kit Sad [:(] . I also got fooled with the box art on Airfix's Longbow Apache which shows the probes , It's a shame they don't include them in the kits .

Anyway hopfully I'll get to building them before the year's end.

The 53s are nice but the H-19 and H-34 are what caught my eye (big surprise Smile [:)] ). I am amazed at the speed you are able to turn out quality and unusual builds.

I don't know about the Cobras but I've built the Hobbyboss AH-64D. There are a few accuracy issues to correct, but overall a pretty painless build.

 Hi Aaronw ,

Thank's for the compliments on my builds . I do remember that your a big fan of those early piston engine Helo's .

The H-19 is an old Airfix Westland Whirlwind [S-55] , along with the Italeri H-34 are part of a trio of older kits that I stripped off the original hand brush paint finish and decided to redo .

I drilled and filed out for some extra cabin windows to the Airfix S-55 , the cabin door is molded closed and there is no flooring or seating for that area , so I only added the windows and didn't worry about the interior

I'm almost ready to put the H-13 back together , she will also be an IDF bird .

A couple of months ago I did start some preliminary work on some more H-34 series Helo's .

All I've got done so far is put a Hobbyboss H-34 partially together the rest are waiting patiently

I'm also hoping to get these finished this year as well .

I forget to mention that I added some cockpit blast shields to the Academy AH-64 Apache's and I borrowed a pair of long range fuel tanks from a Hasegawa UH-60 Blackhawk .

I also cut open the cockpit doors on one of the Apache's
