Federal Standard model paint equilavents
Posted by icit on Sunday, September 6, 2009 10:52 PM

I am building a Canadian Forces Seaking circa 1991 (first gulf war) and I am looking for a source where I can cross reference Federal Standard codes with model paint manufactures, any ideas?

Canada had started using Federal Standards 595 in 1983; prior to that, we had our own Canadian Standard 1-GP-12c codes since 1965. I will check my sources and post the answer later tonight.

This is a great site for color referencing:

http://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/paintconversionchart.html#app=cb3e&e5a0-selectedIndex=0

You can search for color codes or names and get the closest match for many model color manufacturers.

The overall colour for the CH-124A Sea King in the Persian Gulf, circa 1991, is FS26173 with all lo-vis markings in FS26099.

FS36173 is available as: Model Master 2737, Tamiya XF53, Gunze Aqueous H-335, Vallejo 992 (160), and Citadel Shadow Grey.
