Revell Huey Hog 1/48

The "B" and "D" model Hueys had a cord of 21 inches and the "C" had a cord of 27 inches.  The Revell Huey Hog's blades look to scale out at about 28 1/2 inches so they are a tad over.  Nothing a little triming and sanding wouldn't take care of for the perfectionist, but there is so much more out of scale "stuff" on it I wouldn't worry about it.  I would use the transmission and rotor plyon assy off an old ECSI "D" to help out that area. 

Everything I build is 1:48.  I like to keep everything in the same scale for perspective and such.  Sometimes there doesn't seem too much in this scale, especially helicopters.  It does make it challenging.  I plan on doing a huey gunship, slick, and medevac.  I just located a 1:48 bell OH-13 Sioux and want to make a Korean war MASH helicopter.  I also have the SH-60B and the Cobra Conversion and the Fireball USCG decals to make our local HH-60J Jayhawk from the Coast Guard here at Otis on Cape Cod MA.  This will be my first entrance into the world of helicopters.  Wish me luck!  Thanks all.

I just bought this kit last weekend at Michaels and opened it up last night.  I found the left (port) fuesalge half had a huge deformation/dent in it behind the pilot door and in front of the port side door.  I assume this is not correct since I can find no pix of this kind of indentation.  If I am wrong - aqnd the indentation is supposed to be there - please let me know ASAP, since I am planning to have my wife return and exchange the kit tomorrow.

I just checked my kit and it appears fine with no discernable deformations.

It looks like you have the interior silver.  If that is the case, its way off.  The floor and side walls (metal parts) should be a medium gray.  The rear wall and inside ceiling (fabric sound proofing) should be a slightly lighter gray.  The rear troop seat should have medium gray support rods with either red or od green fabric cushions.  The ammo box under the seat is either black or dark green.  Don't follow the directions for colors, they are as hosed up as the rest of the kit.  Take a look at a few UH-1B or C walkarounds and you will see how they actually looked.

Here is an example of the proper gray color for the metal portions inside.  You can also get an idea how the cockpit should look.
